The Great Outdoors in Royston

Banyers House is a great destination for those who want to spend time exploring in the fresh air. With country parks and nature reserves close by and the city of Cambridge to explore just a 15 minute train ride away, there is plenty to do when staying at Banyers House

Wandlebury country park

On the Gog Magog Hills, just south of Cambridge, the 110 acres of parkland includes beautiful woods and chalk meadows, the remains of an Iron Age Hill Fort and 18th century country estate, with walled garden, orchard and ponds. A 14 mile drive from Banyers House.

Cambridge

The historic city of Cambridge is a great place for spending the day in the fresh air. The beautiful grounds of the 31 colleges are best seen while relaxing on a punt on the River Cam and the cobbled streets make for a pleasant stroll before heading back to Banyers House for a luxurious overnight stay. A 5 minute walk to the mainline station and a 15 minute train ride into Cambridge

RSPB Fowlmere

Fowlmere Nature Reserve is a wildlife haven set within a 40 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest. Its former water-cress beds are now reedbed, fen, chalk grassland and scrub, while the area also holds a small but fine example of a chalk stream, one of the UK’s rarest habitats. Special species such as kingfishers, water rails, sedge warblers and reed warblers can be seen along the 3km nature trail. A 10 minute drive from Banyers House.

Stotfold Mill Meadows

Stotfold Mill stands in an eight acre Local Nature Reserve with plantings of native trees, hedges and a wildflower meadow. There is a peaceful one mile walk through the meadows and along the river Ivel where wildlife such as ducks, swans and butterflies can be seen. A 20 minute drive from Banyers House.
